Job Description
Online cybersecurity professor teaching undergraduate and graduate students at DeVry University. Developing course materials, assessing learning, and integrating responsible AI and applied security practices.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and provide students with an approved DeVry University syllabus aligned with terminal course objectives
- Organize, prepare, revise, and update course materials
- Use online technologies and course-related software, including websites, email, and online discussions
- Teach courses and programs in accordance with DeVry University requirements
- Apply teaching techniques to achieve course and programmatic objectives
- Model effective oral and written communication
- Set course expectations, objectives, assignment and examination dates, and evaluation weighting
- Ensure examinations align with course terminal objectives
- Prepare and grade examinations consistently and fairly
- Provide timely feedback to students
- Integrate responsible AI technologies into classroom teaching and learning
- Recognize, evaluate, and address appropriate and inappropriate student use of AI tools
- Complete other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Doctorate in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field
- At least 18 graduate credit hours in cybersecurity, information assurance, network security, digital forensics, or related computing disciplines
- Unofficial graduate-level transcripts must be uploaded with the application
- Degree must be awarded by an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, or by an equivalent internationally accredited institution
- 3–5 years of applied professional experience in cybersecurity, information security, security operations, threat analysis, or digital risk management
- Demonstrated experience with network security, system hardening, vulnerability management, incident response, and security monitoring
- Industry-recognized certifications or professional credentials relevant to cybersecurity or information security operations
- Subject matter expertise in cybersecurity principles and defensive security practices
- Effective communication skills and ability to explain complex security concepts to diverse learners
- Knowledge of cyber risk management, regulatory and compliance considerations, ethical security practices, and responsible use of security technologies
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in instructional technology, digital literacy, and responsible AI practices
- Additional requirements may apply based on state licensing, institutional policy, or accreditation standards
- Preferred: industry certifications in cybersecurity operations, ethical hacking, incident response, or security management
- Preferred: experience with security frameworks, security operations center practices, and threat intelligence processes
- Preferred: defensive and proactive cybersecurity techniques, including penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, digital forensics, and incident response
- Preferred: DevSecOps or secure development experience
- Preferred: accreditation processes, outcomes assessment, curriculum alignment, and continuous improvement
- Preferred: professional cybersecurity organization membership or engagement
- Preferred: cybersecurity laboratories, simulation platforms, capture-the-flag environments, and real-world security scenarios in post-secondary instruction
- Preferred: 2–5 years of post-secondary teaching experience
