Job Description
Accounting Specialist managing monthly close processes and providing financial reporting oversight at Otis, the leader in elevator and escalator manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Execute the monthly close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, account analyses, and account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Oversee daily and monthly cash accounting activities, including reconciliation of bank accounts, and ensuring accurate cash reporting
- Provide financial reporting oversight related to AP activities, ensuring accurate expense recognition, proper cutoff, and completeness of liabilities
- Deliver comprehensive balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analysis, providing actionable insights to senior leadership
- Manage special projects, system implementations, and ad hoc financial analysis to meet business and leadership needs
- Serve as a key business partner to field operations and Finance Business Partners, offering guidance on accounting matters and driving informed decision-making
- Maintain and continuously enhance accounting policies, procedures, and standard work documentation to improve consistency and compliance
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives, driving efficiencies through automation, standardization, and best practices implementation
- Interface with WHQ, Outsource Providers and Regional Offices
- Support controls and Sarbanes Oxley 404 compliance, as well as PwC testing
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree: Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
- Must enjoy working in a team environment, be able to multi-task, and possess a solid work ethic
- Self-starter who takes ownership and initiative
- Must be able to work additional hours as required due to time-sensitive deadlines
- Advanced skills in Excel
- JD Edwards experience a plus
