Job Description
AI Engineer developing backend services, RAG systems, and LLM applications for WBS GRUPPE’s digital education ecosystem. Improving business processes through clean, tested software and data integration.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement maintainable, thoroughly tested backend services and full-stack applications, with a focus on Clean Code, TDD, and sound architecture
- Develop business-specific AI applications such as RAG systems, assistants, and generative text processing based on existing Large Language Models
- Use modern AI tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to increase development speed and quality
- Integrate AI models and services into existing systems and workflows
- Develop data integration solutions for continuous, automated data flows
- Prepare and process data for AI applications
- Design, document, and deploy clean APIs
- Build automated tests and CI/CD pipelines
- Continuously evaluate and improve software components and RAG pipelines
- Contribute to optimizing business processes and achieving strategic company objectives
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, ideally in a senior role
- Advanced knowledge of Python for backend development, data engineering, and prototyping, or a comparable language
- TypeScript and/or C# is a plus
- Practical experience with Clean Code, Test-Driven Development, automated testing, and code reviews
- In-depth knowledge of RAG pipelines and vector databases
- Practical experience with LLM-based applications
- Strong backend foundation combined with frontend knowledge, such as TypeScript/React
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and focus solutions on tangible value
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with diverse teams
- German language skills at least at C1 level, both written and spoken
- Residence in Germany, Austria, or Spain
- Experience with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code, or with agentic development, is desirable
- Ability to plan and execute development projects is desirable
- Clear and precise technical documentation skills are desirable
- Willingness to develop creative ideas and experiment with new approaches is desirable
