Job Description
Kubernetes Platform Architect guiding enterprise customers through VMware Kubernetes Service adoption. Designing cloud-native solutions, proof-of-concepts, and modernization architectures on VMware Cloud Foundation.
Responsibilities:
- Guide enterprise customers through the design, validation, and deployment of VMware Kubernetes Service (vKS) solutions on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
- Collaborate with field account teams to align solution architecture with customer priorities
- Lead technical discovery sessions, workshops, and proof-of-concepts
- Partner with sales to develop customer proposals addressing modernization goals, workload placement, and operational transformation
- Provide guidance on Kubernetes adoption, CI-CD integration, scalability, security, and disaster recovery
- Build and share reference architectures, deployment patterns, and technical assets
- Deliver technical presentations to architects and executive decision makers
- Monitor industry trends, competitor offerings, and evolving enterprise requirements
- Collaborate with product management and engineering to provide field feedback influencing the roadmap
Requirements:
- Deep technical acumen with experience in application engineering, consulting, or technical sales for enterprise IT, cloud, or application platforms
- Strong expertise in containers and a leading Kubernetes distribution (EKS, AKS, RH OCP/OPP, Rancher)
- Strong expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation, including vSphere, vSAN, and NSX
- 8–10+ years in technology-related roles, with depth in enterprise IT architecture, application modernization, or cloud-native platforms
- Demonstrated success working directly with enterprise customers to deliver technical solutions and drive platform adoption
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with sales teams
- Proven ability to identify challenges, design solutions, and articulate value in business terms
- Ability to travel up to 60% of the time
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field; or equivalent experience
- Deep knowledge of VMware products and Kubernetes platforms
- Certifications in cloud-native or public cloud technologies are highly desirable
