Job Description
AI Engineer developing LLM-powered pipelines for intelligent systems at Keyrus Portugal. Engaging in technical and consultative roles merging AI solutions with data engineering and human decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain LLM-powered pipelines for processing and automating customer requests.
- Design and implement data ingestion, data preprocessing, and enrichment pipelines for unstructured data sources, including emails, PDFs, images, and documents.
- Develop classification, routing, and decision workflows for customer inquiries.
- Apply prompt engineering best practices and continuously improve model performance and output quality.
- Implement structured outputs and Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) workflows to ensure reliability and business adoption.
- Ensure production readiness through testing, CI/CD, containerisation, and monitoring.
- Contribute to AI architecture design, scalability, and engineering standards.
- Monitor, evaluate, and optimise AI systems using LLM observability tools and performance metrics.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business teams to integrate AI solutions into existing processes and workflows.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, AI Engineering, or related fields.
- Strong professional experience developing production-grade Python applications.
- Proven experience building and maintaining LLM-based solutions and intelligent workflows.
- Experience working with unstructured data processing pipelines.
- Ability to work independently in multidisciplinary and distributed teams.
- Professional proficiency in English.
- Strong expertise in: Python; FastAPI; Async programming patterns; REST APIs; and PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience with OpenAI SDK, LangChain, LangGraph or similar LLM orchestration frameworks.
- Strong experience in Prompt Engineering, LLM evaluation, Structured outputs and Human-in-the-Loop workflows.
- Solid Data Engineering background, including data pipelines, ingestion, preprocessing and working with unstructured datasets.
- Experience with: Docker; CI/CD pipelines; testing practices; and production deployments.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, Claude Code, or similar.
