Job Description
Applications Engineer designing monitoring solutions for power distribution equipment at Grace Technologies, a global electrical safety and predictive maintenance leader. Translating customer systems into technical designs and quotations.
Responsibilities:
- Review electrical single-line diagrams, equipment drawings, specifications, and customer documentation
- Evaluate switchgear, switchboards, MCCs, panelboards, transformers, and related power distribution equipment
- Identify where continuous temperature monitoring and other reliability solutions provide the greatest value
- Determine monitoring points, sensors, network components, and hardware required for each application
- Develop marked-up SLDs, system layouts, bills of material, technical recommendations, and customer quotations
- Work directly with customers, OEMs, distributors, engineering firms, and Grace sales professionals to solve application challenges
- Provide technical guidance on product selection, system architecture, installation, commissioning, and application suitability
- Support new applications, pilot projects, and repeatable solution designs
- Bring customer feedback to Grace’s engineering and product teams to improve existing and future solutions
- Travel approximately 10%
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of directly applicable experience in electrical engineering, applications engineering, power distribution, electrical equipment, or electrical reliability
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams and equipment drawings
- Working knowledge of low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems
- Understanding of breakers, bus systems, conductors, cable terminations, electrical connections, and common failure points
- Experience translating technical requirements into system designs, equipment selections, and BOMs
- Strong technical, analytical, and customer communication skills
- Experience with switchgear, switchboards, MCCs, transformers, or other electrical distribution equipment is helpful
- Experience with continuous temperature monitoring, predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, or industrial sensing is helpful
- Experience with electrical equipment design, field service, commissioning, or maintenance is helpful
- Experience with technical proposals, quotations, or customer-facing applications engineering is helpful
- Experience with industrial communication systems and protocols is helpful
- Experience with AutoCAD, electrical design software, or PDF markup tools is helpful
- PE licensure is a plus, but not required
