Job Description
Backend Engineering Manager leading Yazio's API and AI platform for healthy nutrition. Coaching senior engineers, owning delivery rituals, OKRs, hiring, and production reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Yazio's Backend Team responsible for the API and AI features in the app
- Own team rituals including stand-ups, refinements, sprint planning, retrospectives, and bi-weekly written syncs
- Improve how the team works
- Build relationships with squad leads and product managers so backend work is included in squad plans
- Own the team's quarterly OKR roadmap and keep progress visible to dependent teams
- Support engineers through 1:1s, development goals, and timely feedback
- Address accountability issues early
- Hire team members with the Talent Acquisition team
- Monitor production issues and outages, route them to the right person, and ensure resolution
- Collaborate with product squads including Monetization, Growth, Tracking Experience, Mobile Platform, Web, Internal Tools, and CRM
Requirements:
- Experience leading an engineering team with direct reports
- Experience helping a team take on new responsibilities or change how it works
- Several years of prior experience as a senior backend engineer
- Comfort discussing system design, infrastructure, and technical trade-offs
- Ability to coach engineers to make decisions and handle stakeholder conversations
- Clear, friendly communication and calmness under pressure, including during outages
- Ability to build strong relationships with leads and stakeholders
- Strong product mindset
- Experience leading a team supporting several product squads at the same time is a bonus
- Experience with high-traffic consumer products is a bonus
- Experience with backend engineers embedded in product squads is a bonus
- Experience steering a business with KPIs and running A/B tests is a bonus
- English as the company language
- CV in English
