Job Description
Senior Java Engineer building Java, Spring Boot and Kafka microservices for Ambush, an engineering, design and AI consultancy. Delivering reliable backend platforms and production features for client partnerships.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build and maintain backend services with Java and Spring Boot
- Develop REST APIs and event-driven integrations with Kafka
- Write clean, tested code and participate in code reviews
- Work with architects and product owners to break down requirements and estimate work
- Support production issues and improve performance and reliability
- Build and modernize backend platforms with Java, Spring Boot and microservices
- Deliver production features end to end in a Java microservices environment
Requirements:
- 6+ years of professional backend development with Java
- Java 11+; strong in Java 8+ features such as streams and lambdas
- Solid Core Java: OOP, design patterns, collections, multithreading and concurrency
- Production experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture
- REST API design and integration
- Relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL, Oracle or similar)
- Event streaming or messaging with Kafka or similar
- Git, CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins) and Docker
- Unit and integration testing (JUnit, Mockito)
- Fluent English for daily work with the client
- Based in Spain or Poland with the right to work there
- Nice to have: experience in banking, payments or other financial services
- Nice to have: AWS or another major cloud provider
- Nice to have: Kubernetes
- Nice to have: Hibernate / JPA
- Nice to have: frontend exposure with React or Angular
- Nice to have: experience on consulting or client-facing projects
