Job Description
Residential CAD survey checker reviewing complex land surveys and coordinating boundary matters. Coaching drafting teams and supporting Professional Land Surveyors at Exacta.
Responsibilities:
- Review complex residential survey work prepared by internal drafters and third-party outsourcing partners for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with Exacta standards
- Coach and mentor drafting staff by providing clear, constructive feedback and explaining corrections and survey concepts
- Identify recurring drafting and technical issues and coach team members to address root causes and reduce repeat errors
- Provide real-time technical guidance on complex survey, boundary, record, and drafting issues
- Coordinate with Professional Land Surveyors on research, survey calculations, record interpretation, technical review, and potential boundary resolutions
- Resolve appropriate issues at the checker level, prepare complex files for Professional Land Surveyor review, and escalate matters requiring professional judgment
- Provide technical support to field survey crews, including point coordinate files, field calculations, and boundary-related information
- Attend weekly performance meetings and use productivity, quality, turnaround-time, and KPI trends to identify coaching and process-improvement opportunities
Requirements:
- Minimum of high school diploma/GED required
- Associates / Technical Degree or higher preferred
- 3+ years of successful land surveying drafting, checking, or survey technician experience
- Applied CAD experience
- Strong working knowledge of residential survey preparation, CAD operations, survey calculations, record information, and boundary-related research
- Ability to communicate technical feedback clearly and professionally
- Demonstrated ability to coach others, solve problems, and support consistent business outcomes
- Ability to prioritize complex reviews, balance workload demands, and support timely delivery while maintaining quality standards
- Proficient in the independent application and use of job-related software/e-technology/cloud-based solutions
