Job Description

CISO/VP Data Security owning cybersecurity, controls, vendor risk, and regulatory readiness. Protecting a fast-growing fintech and cryptocurrency company while advising leadership and regulators.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all cybersecurity matters across the company in line with cybersecurity laws, industry best practices, and state regulatory rules
  • Own and maintain the company's cybersecurity program and ensure it remains current and compliant
  • Select appropriate security controls for the company's technology and threat environment
  • Lead the company's cybersecurity defense strategy
  • Partner with operations and engineering teams to build security considerations into solutions from the start
  • Provide strategic cybersecurity guidance and shape major business decisions through a security lens
  • Serve as the main point of contact with regulators during audits and throughout the year
  • Review and approve cybersecurity policies, procedures, and written supervisory procedures
  • Identify and document asset vulnerabilities and internal and external threats
  • Audit critical security and continuity practices
  • Lead the selection, implementation, and monitoring of cybersecurity controls across company systems, communications, physical offices, encryption, and remote customer access
  • Drive adherence to cybersecurity measures and standards across the organization
  • Review the cybersecurity policy annually and update it as needed
  • Maintain records of policy reviews, actions taken, systems analyzed, and reports produced
  • Oversee risks from third-party vendors and system dependencies
  • Report regularly to leadership on the health and status of the cybersecurity program
  • Complete a short two-minute video question as part of the screening process

Requirements:

  • 10 or more years of experience in cybersecurity, including direct ownership of a security program
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • Extensive experience working with security, DevOps, and incident response teams
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry and working directly with regulators
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud systems
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container-based systems
  • Proficiency in Python, Golang, or a similar dynamic programming language
  • Experience with data warehousing and data analysis
  • Must currently be based in Latin America (LATAM) or Europe
  • Direct-to-consumer experience preferred
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Comfort and proficiency using AI tools is a strong plus
  • Basic knowledge of cryptocurrency and blockchain is a bonus
  • Genuine passion for fintech and cryptocurrency is a bonus
