Job Description
Claims Coordinator processing disability and life claims for Canadian employers at DMI. Reviewing paperwork, coordinating referrals, and supporting timely case assignment.
Responsibilities:
- Review new employer referrals for Disability coverage and stand-alone WOP benefits
- Set up Early Intervention services and Pre-claim files, and refer them to the EIP team
- Forward completed claims for claim set-up and Case Manager assignment
- Set up internally adjudicated Life and Living claims through Case Manager assignment
- Receive and review claim documents and referrals for Disability and Life & Living applications
- Set up new files and verify administrative details, including absence dates and personal contact information
- Assemble and submit claims to external carriers and maintain claim records through closure
- Explain application processes to employees and employers and ensure paperwork is complete
- Follow up on outstanding paperwork, errors, and omissions
- Review policy information to confirm insurance coverage and escalate questions
- Identify and monitor return-to-work plans before claim submission
- Notify billing administration of applicable updates to WEBS
- Respond to inquiries, emails, and voicemails within 1 business day
- Enter complete and accurate file information into the proprietary database system
- Manage incoming and outgoing phone calls
- Submit IT tickets with leadership sign-off
- Identify inefficiencies and provide input to improve outcomes and efficiency
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements:
- 2 years of previous administrative and/or customer service experience
- Previous benefits experience is an asset
- Competence in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Ability to work within the company's core business hours
- Ability to handle sensitive information according to privacy and confidentiality policies
- Ability to communicate clearly, positively, and respectfully
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage caseloads, and complete administrative duties accurately and on time
