Job Description

Compliance Officer conducting second-line KYC and name-screening reviews for Mashreq’s Egypt-based banking operations. Identifying compliance risks, supporting regulatory alignment, and advising internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive 2nd line review of high-risk KYC referrals
  • Provide 2nd line dispositioning of name-screening referrals for low- and medium-risk accounts that cannot be discounted by the first line of defense
  • Identify, assess, and help mitigate regulatory, financial crime, reputational, and other compliance risks
  • Support business units with innovative, compliant, and workable solutions aligned with regulatory requirements
  • Escalate material unmitigated risks to Compliance Management
  • Handle assigned cases within approved timelines and align activities with bank compliance policies, standards, procedures, and regulatory updates
  • Maintain awareness of Central Bank of the UAE regulations applicable to CIBG business and interpret them for relevant stakeholders
  • Support root-cause problem solving and implement agreed actions to improve team efficiency
  • Update MIS on assigned workload and cases
  • Participate in compliance training programs for internal stakeholders
  • Identify material compliance risks and prepare Risk Acceptance Notes when senior management involvement is required
  • Assist with updating internal procedures and cascading regulatory and policy updates to stakeholders
  • Respond to queries from CBUAE, internal audit, and external consultants
  • Represent CIBG Compliance in assigned projects and working groups
  • Develop proactive professional relationships with internal business and operations stakeholders
  • Make independent informed decisions on assigned high-risk referrals
  • Provide administrative and office support linked to assigned MIS

Requirements:

  • Graduate with 3-5 years of corporate compliance experience in reputable banks
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of local regulatory rules and legislation, and various international requirements and practices in Corporate and Investment Banking businesses
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent command over spoken and written English
  • Good presentation skills
  • Efficient and logical approach to problem solving
  • Good decision making ability
