Job Description
Corporate Claim Litigation Attorney Expert in an in-house role at Allstate, overseeing litigation related to insurance claims and advising the Claims Organization. Requires 7+ years of relevant experience and a Juris Doctorate.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee first and third-party claims of heightened exposure, complex extra-contractual matters, bad faith, and other major litigation related to insurance claims.
- Perform extra-contractual analysis based on factual and legal issues.
- Provide advice to the Claims Organization on extra-contractual and bad faith issues, recommendations for resolution, and strategies to mitigate risk related to insurance claims.
- Prepare and present recommendations for settlement of claims where there is extra-contractual risk.
- Work closely with outside counsel and the Claims Organization in the oversight of high exposure and complex claims in litigation.
- Work with business colleagues and other in-house legal teams to develop and implement recommendations related to the handling of claims.
- Provide advice and counsel to the business with respect to litigation strategies and on emerging legal issues and risks.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate and active membership and in good standing within state of practice.
- 7 or more years of experience.
- Project management skills and law firm/vendor management experience.
- Able to interact with all levels of personnel and supervise/oversee the work of more junior resources.
- Utilizes subject matter expertise to coach and guide less experienced team members.
- Computer skills, including MS Office suite, used in or related to the tasks performed.
- LexisNexis or similar experience.
- Insurance Defense experience (required).
