Job Description

Data Platform Engineer responsible for evolving data infrastructure for environmental research. Collaborating with stakeholders and managing databases to ensure data systems are stable and efficient.

Responsibilities:

  • Help design, support, and evolve the data infrastructure for environmental research.
  • Work closely with federal stakeholders and technical teams to translate data orchestration needs.
  • Manage PostgreSQL databases, optimize SQL based workflows, and support Python driven automation and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Contribute to improving observability, reliability, and operational performance across data pipelines.
  • Help engineer the platform that keeps high value environmental data moving, accessible, and trusted.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology
  • Experience writing efficient SQL, managing PostgreSQL databases, and handling large datasets to ensure accurate and high-performance data processing
  • Proficient in Python for automating data workflows and improving data management efficiency
  • Experience with CI/CD practices, including automating database provisioning and using GitLab or GitHub for version control and deployment workflows
  • Comfortable using AWS services such as EC2, S3, and RDS to deploy, manage, and scale cloud-based applications and databases
  • Desired: AWS and ArcGIS certifications demonstrating expertise in cloud and geospatial technologies
