Job Description
Data Platform Engineer responsible for evolving data infrastructure for environmental research. Collaborating with stakeholders and managing databases to ensure data systems are stable and efficient.
Responsibilities:
- Help design, support, and evolve the data infrastructure for environmental research.
- Work closely with federal stakeholders and technical teams to translate data orchestration needs.
- Manage PostgreSQL databases, optimize SQL based workflows, and support Python driven automation and CI/CD pipelines.
- Contribute to improving observability, reliability, and operational performance across data pipelines.
- Help engineer the platform that keeps high value environmental data moving, accessible, and trusted.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology
- Experience writing efficient SQL, managing PostgreSQL databases, and handling large datasets to ensure accurate and high-performance data processing
- Proficient in Python for automating data workflows and improving data management efficiency
- Experience with CI/CD practices, including automating database provisioning and using GitLab or GitHub for version control and deployment workflows
- Comfortable using AWS services such as EC2, S3, and RDS to deploy, manage, and scale cloud-based applications and databases
- Desired: AWS and ArcGIS certifications demonstrating expertise in cloud and geospatial technologies
