Job Description
Deputy Principal developing teaching practice at New Zealand's first online charter school. Leading coaching, professional growth, PLD and online learning standards.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a strategic portfolio focused on high standards teaching
- Run coaching cycles, live-session observations and online learning walkthroughs
- Embed the school's theory of learning and assessment-for-learning practice schoolwide
- Oversee the professional growth cycle and teaching as inquiry
- Lead PCT induction, the mentor programme and release time
- Own the PLD plan, staff meeting PLD calendar and teacher-only days
- Manage Teaching Council certification endorsements and practicum liaison
- Manage PLD delivery and external bookings with the Operations Manager
- Report to the Board on the portfolio
- Line-manage portfolio leaders
- Contribute to staff PLD and share the duty roster
- Include a teaching component
Requirements:
- Highly effective teacher with a full practising certificate
- Experience coaching or mentoring colleagues
- Formal coaching training ideally
- Knowledge of learning science and assessment for learning
- Ability to make research practical
- Ability to organise a full-year PLD programme and its budget
- Ability to provide honest, supportive feedback that changes practice
- Passion for the school's vision and innovation
- Willingness to work in an online setting
