Job Description
Principal Investigator leading terrestrial archaeology projects for SEARCH, a global cultural heritage services firm. Managing research, fieldwork, technical reports, staff, clients, budgets, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise regarding field strategies, research, and regulatory requirements at state, regional, and federal levels
- Prepare research designs and build research teams
- Oversee research, fieldwork, data analysis, report preparation, and other project tasks
- Ensure research goals, budgets, schedules, and contract requirements are met
- Recommend and deploy state-of-the-art technology and methodology
- Serve as primary author and researcher on technical reports
- Ensure research quality, integrity, and original authorship of project deliverables
- Prepare research articles, papers, and presentations for academic and industry venues
- Conduct field visits and occasional archaeological fieldwork
- Develop project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules
- Train and mentor archaeologists and report authors
- Maintain professional standards and strong project team relationships
- Develop and manage agency and client relationships
- Communicate project developments to project teams, company leadership, and clients
- Coordinate field, research, laboratory, and report-preparation tasks
- Work with crews to ensure timely fieldwork meeting applicable standards
- Perform quality control and assurance of technical reports
- Manage project staff
- Coordinate development of project Health & Safety plans
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Anthropology or related field
- Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience encompassing field, laboratory, and office work
- Must meet the Secretary of the Interior’s professional qualifications standards for archaeology
- Must be an RPA or eligible to become an RPA
- Expertise in state and federal laws and guidelines governing cultural resources management
- Demonstrated ability to support projects in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Demonstrated ability to manage cultural resource studies in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Demonstrated client management skills
- Superior technical writing skills to produce high-quality technical reports and awardable proposals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- CV/resume, cover letter, minimum of three professional references, and two writing samples required
- Flexible availability outside standard working hours
- Eligible to be employed in the United States
- Satisfactory criminal, education, driving, and/or employment background checks
- Passing results from a pre-employment drug screen
