Job Description

Deputy Project Manager/Scrum Master supporting SAIC’s defense, space, intelligence, and civilian technology missions. Facilitating Agile delivery, project operations, risk management, and team improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, executing, and monitoring project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
  • Serve as Scrum Master for one or more teams and facilitate Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives
  • Coach teams on Agile principles and adherence to the Definition of Ready and Definition of Done
  • Identify, track, and resolve impediments affecting team velocity or project progress
  • Facilitate backlog refinement and ensure user stories are defined, prioritized, and contain clear acceptance criteria
  • Liaise between stakeholders, engineering teams, and project leadership regarding project status, risks, and dependencies
  • Collaborate with clients and leadership on Program Increment planning and alignment with broader program goals
  • Maintain project health and progress tracking in Atlassian Jira and Confluence
  • Generate reports on sprint metrics, team velocity, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement process improvements
  • Ensure business-process and technical-expectation documentation is accurate, scalable, and current

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 9 years of experience in a Project Management, Scrum Master, or relevant role, with a proven track record of managing Agile teams
  • Deep understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and experience facilitating ceremonies in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence, including board configuration, reporting, and workflow management
  • Exceptional facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to identify risks, manage dependencies, and mitigate roadblocks effectively
  • Ability to support the Project Manager in day-to-day operations and provide guidance to team members
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across diverse disciplines
  • Professional certifications such as CSM, CSPO, SSM, or PMP are highly desirable
  • Experience working within a government or federal contracting environment is a plus
