Job Description

Director of Engineering leading packaging systems and automation projects across multiple locations at Conagra Brands. Focusing on team leadership, design standardization, and process improvement in food manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of packaging and automation engineers responsible for packaging equipment line design across approximately 40 plants
  • Develop an internal team of subject matter experts
  • Originate/approve designs, evaluate results, and make recommendations to senior management
  • Review product requirements to ensure proper packaging and equipment design
  • Utilize effective communication and leadership skills to influence across the organization
  • Develop internal subject matter experts by building technical capability and mentoring
  • Own the engineering design for new primary and secondary packaging lines
  • Create standardization of equipment and procedures and replicate these across the enterprise
  • Lead a team to develop Front-End-Loading packages that reflect thorough due diligence to ensure project success

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or Packaging Engineering (with emphasis on equipment)
  • Engineering Subject Matter Expertise in Packaging Systems Design and Automation
  • Demonstrated capability in developing and implementing automation/robotic solutions
  • Packaging Equipment Engineering emphasis is required in addition to practical experience of 10+ years in food manufacturing with frozen and snack food packaging system design a plus
  • Experience providing both tactical and strategic project leadership
  • Machine design and experience working in a USDA environment is a plus
  • Proven effectiveness in working collaboratively within a matrix organization
