Job Description
E-commerce developer building secure, high-performance online stores for a regenerative agriculture company. Integrating payments, business systems, and conversion optimization across remote U.S. locations.
Responsibilities:
- Build, launch, and customize online stores
- Develop and deploy WordPress plugins and customize existing plugins
- Integrate payment gateways, inventory, ERP, CRM, and PIM systems
- Optimize site speed, database queries, and responsive mobile layouts
- Ensure PCI-DSS, data protection, accessibility, and GDPR consent compliance
- Perform A/B testing, troubleshoot checkout failures, and monitor uptime
- Partner with UX/UI designers, digital marketers, and product managers on promotional campaigns and seasonal site updates
- Manage cross-departmental projects and deliver products for the Marketing team
- Report to the Head of IT
- Work with the Financial Controller to integrate financial systems, customer records, and order inflow
- Implement transaction flows, payment security, shopping cart mechanics, conversion rate optimization, and high-volume traffic handling
Requirements:
- Experience building, launching, and customizing online stores using WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento (Adobe Commerce), Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or custom architectures
- Ability to build, launch, and deploy WordPress plugins
- Experience modifying and customizing standard plugins using standard coding practices
- Ability to analyze and interpret code-level modifications made by others
- Strong understanding of SEO best practices
- Prior experience or willingness to learn and implement Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)
- Experience integrating secure payment gateways, inventory management systems (IMS), enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), and product information management (PIM) tools
- Experience optimizing site speed, database queries, and responsive mobile layouts
- Understanding of PCI-DSS compliance, customer data protection, security patches, accessibility, and GDPR consent compliance
- Experience with A/B testing, checkout troubleshooting, and uptime monitoring
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), React, TypeScript, or jQuery
- Proficiency in PHP, Node.js, Python, or Ruby, paired with server management
- Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server
- Deep familiarity with commercial e-commerce platforms, RESTful APIs, and webhook integrations
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Experience with Agile/Scrum or Kanban workflows
- 3 to 5+ years of hands-on web or e-commerce development experience
- Experience working cross-functionally with Marketing and Finance
