Job Description
Editorial Lead Intern managing writers, publication schedules, and editorial standards. Supporting Our National Conversation’s mission to reduce partisanship and promote solutions through youth-driven media.
Responsibilities:
- Own the publication calendar and story pipeline across written formats
- Set deadlines and follow up when interns slip up
- Manage and revise “How-To” documents for publishing processes
- Chair weekly standing editorial meetings
- Attend Leadership and All-Staff meetings to provide updates
- Help HR recruit, interview, and onboard new contributors
- Train new editors and writers and set standards for sourcing, process, and format
- Safeguard ONC's nonpartisan positioning and branding
- Coordinate with Media & Marketing on joint projects
Requirements:
- Writing or editing experience in any setting: professional, academic, student publication, or news organization
- Ability to edit for argument and structure, in addition to grammar and style
- Experience coordinating a group toward a deadline
- Comfort giving direction and holding people to their commitments
- Sound judgment about sourcing, attribution, and factual accuracy
- Demonstrated follow-through on sustained commitments
