Job Description
Electrical Commissioning Engineer validating electrical systems for Overwatch’s mission-critical data centers. Leading L2–L3 QA/QC and supporting L4–L5 commissioning and integrated systems testing.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Level 2 documentation verification, on-site installation and construction-readiness checks, and Level 3 equipment startup and vendor startup validation
- Assist Level 4 functional performance testing, including breaker coordination, insulation resistance, and component failovers
- Assist Level 5 integrated systems testing using load banks to validate system redundancy, concurrent maintainability, transient behaviors, and automated throwover schemes (ATS)
- Review site-specific test scripts, Method Statements (MOPs), Energization Plans, and pre-functional checklists
- Contribute to the electrical project issue log by categorizing, tracking, and supporting remediation of discrepancies and safety gaps
- Provide technical oversight to field technicians and electrical contractors
- Validate installation, protection tuning, and failure modes of critical electrical systems, including distribution, generators, UPS, ATS/STS, EPMS/SCADA, protective relays, and grounding systems
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent technical field experience
- Minimum 1+ years of direct electrical commissioning, engineering, or mission-critical facilities construction experience
- Experience leading L2–L3 programs on hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise builds
- Ability to read and interpret complex single-line diagrams (SLDs), three-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, control wiring diagrams, and time-current coordination curves
- Ability to navigate construction sites, climb ladders, and lift up to 30 lbs
- Willingness/ability to travel 50% to 65% of the time
