Job Description
Engineering Manager leading Bubble's Developer Experience team. Improving engineering velocity, tooling, AI adoption, and development workflows for its visual app-building platform.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow a team of engineers responsible for Bubble's developer experience
- Own the Developer Experience strategy and roadmap
- Identify and execute opportunities to improve engineering velocity and quality
- Lead career development and hiring for the team
- Expand, develop, and promote engineers equitably
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, including AI tooling, into the development lifecycle
- Partner with staff engineers and engineering managers to roll out changes across Bubble
- Set technical quality standards for the codebase
- Balance technical debt investments with product roadmap progress
- Optimize the local development loop, including build, bundling, and hot reload times
- Own complex initiatives from technical design through execution
- Review pull requests, contribute to architecture decisions, and contribute code as time permits
- Deliver measurable improvements to developer velocity, performance, or satisfaction
Requirements:
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering management experience
- Strong proficiency across the stack, from frontend through infrastructure
- Experience with developer tooling, including build systems, bundlers, testing frameworks, package managers, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience utilizing AI tooling to accelerate development workflows
- Critical perspective on integrating AI tools safely and effectively
- Experience organizing and leading multiple projects with alignment, execution, and measurable outcomes
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance pragmatic short-term improvements with strategic, scalable solutions
- Adaptability and curiosity
- Proactively identify inefficiencies, investigate root causes, and design scalable solutions
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
- Candidates must be located in, or willing to relocate to, NYC if applicable
