Job Description
Forward Deployed Engineer architecting and delivering AI-built software for U.S. Federal agencies. Owning customer discovery, production deployment, validation, and knowledge transfer.
Responsibilities:
- Participate directly in requirements capture and translate customer needs into fit-for-purpose solutions
- Define technical scope and boundaries for fixed-price engagements
- Convert customer requirements into structured specifications, acceptance criteria, and architectural decisions for AI-assisted software development
- Validate generated solutions before release
- Lead production integration and guide deployments
- Remain accountable through deployment, stabilization, customer acceptance, and knowledge transfer
- Ensure solutions are extensible, maintainable, and transferable for support and enhancement by qualified team members
- Support cloud deployments, CI/CD, legacy system integration, and compliance with ATO/RMF, Section 508, and NIST requirements
- Create reusable assets and share lessons learned across the organization
- Identify opportunities for follow-on work while transitioning commercial activities to appropriate stakeholders
- Research, design, architect, code with AI, and validate solutions end to end
- Work directly with customers and maintain client intimacy
Requirements:
- Strong foundation in software engineering principles and manual coding
- Ability to architect and deliver solutions across modern programming languages, frameworks, cloud platforms, AI-assisted development tools, and low-code platforms
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 6+ years of professional software delivery experience
- Experience carrying enterprise systems into production and supporting them after go-live
- At least one complete end-to-end application built primarily with agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Copilot agent mode, Cursor, or equivalent
- Enterprise-scale software delivery experience, including production integration, deployment, operational constraints, and post-launch stabilization
- Architect-level systems-design judgment and working fluency across analysis, product ownership, software development, project delivery, security, data, integrations, and operations
- Ability to independently build complete working solutions primarily through AI-assisted generation
- Ability to read unfamiliar generated logic, identify failure modes, design tests, and determine whether systems are safe and correct enough to ship
- Ability to compare and select technologies based on context
- Ability to uncover the meaning behind stated requirements and adapt to engagement constraints
- Record of making progress through ambiguity, obstacles, incomplete information, and cross-organizational dependencies
- Hands-on experience primarily delivering software solutions rather than infrastructure or operations alone
- Willingness and demonstrated ability to work across greenfield builds, modernization, integration-heavy environments, and inherited in-flight work
- Full-stack fluency with production experience in at least one .NET or Java enterprise ecosystem and at least one major cloud
- Ability to define acceptance criteria, design test strategies, use automated testing, and instrument systems for observability
- Ability to run discovery sessions, demo to skeptical stakeholders, and explain technical trade-offs to non-technical program owners
- US citizenship and eligibility for a Secret clearance
