Job Description
Founding Product and Platform Engineer shaping SGS’s digital products and engineering platform. Building full-stack systems, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and reusable capabilities for a global testing and certification leader.
Responsibilities:
- Define the architecture, tooling, engineering culture, and development practices for the next generation of SGS digital products
- Lead architecture and delivery of ambitious customer-facing solutions
- Design and develop frontend experiences, backend services, cloud infrastructure, and deployment pipelines
- Create CI/CD, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and observability platform capabilities
- Build reusable services, frameworks, libraries, and architectural standards
- Remove friction from the development lifecycle through automation and standardisation
- Act as technical lead on important initiatives through hands-on coding
- Partner with engineers, product leads, and designers to raise technical standards
- Mentor and influence engineers while fostering pragmatic, high-quality delivery
Requirements:
- Expert-level React/TypeScript on the frontend
- Deep experience building distributed backends in Go, Python, or TypeScript
- Hands-on, architectural-level experience with GCP or AWS
- Experience with Terraform
- Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience building modern CI/CD pipelines from scratch, including GitHub Actions or GitLab CI
- Proven ability to design scalable, resilient, and observable systems
- Experience working closely with Product and Design teams
- Practical understanding of monitoring, tracing, testing, and operational excellence
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and Jaeger
- 10+ years of experience
- Strong backgrounds in both product engineering and platform/SRE work
