Job Description
Front-end-focused Full Stack Engineer building provider-facing healthcare applications for XO Health. Developing GraphQL APIs, serverless services, secure workflows, and accessible web experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture and development of complex, data-rich provider-facing web applications, including component design, routing, code splitting, and lazy loading
- Design and implement scalable client-side state management for claims, eligibility, authorizations, and provider onboarding workflows
- Build complex, validated forms and multi-step workflows for dense healthcare data
- Build efficient GraphQL clients with query design, normalized caching, pagination, and optimistic updates
- Establish and maintain unit, component, and end-to-end front-end testing standards
- Apply front-end security best practices for applications handling PHI, including OAuth 2.0/OIDC, secure session handling, XSS prevention, and Content Security Policy
- Champion responsive, cross-browser UI development with modern CSS and a consistent component library
- Contribute to front-end architecture at scale and front-end CI/CD, including automated builds, linting, and deployment
- Design, develop, and maintain back-end services and GraphQL APIs
- Implement independently scalable, resilient, and deployable serverless architectures and microservices
- Integrate and customize rules engines for automated decision-making
- Ensure application security and HIPAA compliance, with a focus on performance and scalability
- Engage with Product, UX, and cross-functional teams to define and deliver healthcare features
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance
Requirements:
- 5+ years building production software, with a strong focus on complex front-end web applications
- Deep expertise in a statically typed language and at least one modern component-based front-end framework, including reactive programming, complex forms, and client-side state management
- A strong eye for UI quality
- Hands-on experience with front-end performance optimization, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), and cross-browser compatibility
- Experience with GraphQL on the client side, plus a solid understanding of API design and back-end data models
- Working proficiency in at least one back-end language and a major cloud platform, including serverless services
- Experience with front-end testing at the unit, component, and end-to-end levels
- Comfort writing SQL and working with relational or NoSQL data
- Fluency with AI-assisted development tools
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
