Job Description
Geospatial Developer building geospatial applications, pipelines, and dashboards for Niyam IT’s federal NEXRAD weather-radar and spectrum relocation program. Fully remote role supporting mission-critical government analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop software components of a database-first geospatial architecture
- Create data models, automated ingestion pipelines, and geospatial services supporting the full NEXRAD network
- Build and maintain Esri-based and/or open-source geospatial web applications and dashboards
- Visualize incumbents, interference indicators, 300 km analysis extents, obstruction environments, and site viability status
- Develop automated geospatial export and report-generation workflows for standardized map and report deliverables at scale
- Implement automated propagation, line-of-sight, and beam-blockage analysis routines with spectrum engineering and GIS teams
- Integrate FCC, FAA, USGS 3DEP, imagery, terrain, clutter, and Government-furnished datasets through documented pipelines
- Support ingestion of field-collected survey data, imagery, and frequency measurement outputs into the master database and dashboard
- Optimize performance, reliability, and maintainability of geospatial applications and data services
- Support deployment in Esri and/or cloud environments such as AWS
- Ensure software, data handling, and hosting practices comply with CUI requirements
- Support a federal client operating a nationwide NEXRAD weather radar network and spectrum relocation analysis program
Requirements:
- US Citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, GIS/Geospatial Science, or a related field (equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree)
- 4+ years of software development experience, including geospatial application development or geospatial data engineering
- Proficiency in Python and experience with geospatial libraries and APIs, including ArcGIS API for Python, GeoPandas, GDAL/OGR, or Shapely
- Experience developing web mapping applications using Esri (ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Experience Builder) and/or open-source stacks (Leaflet, OpenLayers, MapLibre)
- Experience with spatial databases such as PostGIS and building automated ETL/data pipelines
- Familiarity with version control using Git and modern software development and deployment practices
- Working knowledge of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) handling requirements
- Ability to travel occasionally (minimal) to support program activities as needed
- Preferred: experience deploying geospatial applications in cloud environments, particularly AWS
- Preferred: familiarity with radar, RF, spectrum, or telecommunications data and analysis
- Preferred: familiarity with open RF data standards such as SigMF or scientific data formats
- Preferred: prior experience supporting a federal agency with mission-critical infrastructure or geospatial programs
- Preferred: experience automating report and map production from a centralized geospatial database
- Preferred: experience with ArcGIS Enterprise administration or geospatial server/service configuration
