Job Description
GIS Analyst developing and maintaining GIS applications, spatial data, and databases for Geographic Technologies Group’s government clients. Publishing analyses, maps, and reports using the Esri ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
- Collect, compile, organize, and analyze spatial and tabular data to assist in developing GIS applications
- Update and maintain complex database information using current technologies
- Provide GIS data and information to external customers
- Publish GIS data, maps, analyses, reports, charts, and graphs in static and online formats
- Provide GIS system administration and support online content sharing by integrating GIS and related data
- Edit GIS databases and perform geocoding, geoprocessing, data conversion, workflow management, spatial analysis, and quality control
- Develop and maintain GIS files and associated spatial and tabular databases
- Research and produce spatial layers, analyses, maps, reports, charts, and cartographic displays
- Assist with researching and implementing new GIS spatial files
- Create documents and presentations conveying planning recommendations, departmental communications, and GIS technical/business information
- Work under the general supervision of the GIS Manager
- Perform related work as required
Requirements:
- GISP required for this role
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, Geography, Mathematics, IT, Environmental Planning, GIS Technology, Cartography, Computer Science, or related field required
- 4+ years of experience working with the Esri software ecosystem (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise)
- Experience interfacing with clients
- Experience in a responsible project management role
- Knowledge of cartography standards, drafting principles, and computer design and graphics software
- Technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve complex mapping/GIS issues
- Ability to write GIS strategic planning, policies/procedures, and GIS technical documents
- Ability to publish GIS data, maps, analysis, reports, charts, and graphs as static and online content
- Ability to perform GIS system administration, database editing, geocoding, geoprocessing, data conversion, workflow management, spatial analysis, and quality control
- Excellent administrative, organizational, communication, and cartographic skills
- Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to present ideas and speak effectively to groups
- Eagerness to learn and openness to feedback
- Professionalism, positive attitude, flexibility, and strong initiative
- Must hold a current GISP certification
