Job Description

GIS Specialist processing European geospatial and environmental data for Bridge351, a technology company delivering Cloud, Cybersecurity, Data, and Advanced Development solutions. Building analyses, indicators, and interactive maps.

Responsibilities:

  • Access and download datasets
  • Combine data from different sources and formats and harmonise data
  • Maintain long time series, identify outliers, and complete missing data
  • Create new variables and indicators from existing variables
  • Produce charts and visualise results
  • Perform spatial analysis and geoprocessing
  • Automate geoprocessing workflows with Python
  • Apply fit-for-purpose class breaks and symbologies
  • Develop layouted maps, choropleth maps, and interactive web maps
  • Use online storytelling tools such as Esri StoryMaps
  • Manage geospatial data modelling, transformation, enrichment, quality assurance, dissemination, and visualisation
  • Deliver geographic insights and accurate spatial data reporting
  • Resolve GIS challenges from integration through configuration
  • Manage multiple GIS projects and deliver results collaboratively or autonomously

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years of very good experience with data wrangling, gathering, structuring, and transformation, including communicating results visually in tables, charts, and documents
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with geospatial data, including spatial analysis, cartography, geoprocessing, geodatabase management, production workflows, coordinate systems, metadata, map layouts, and interactive web maps
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working with authoritative data from Eurostat, EEA, and JRC
  • Minimum 7 years of experience using territorial typologies, including NUTS, rural-urban typologies, MetroRegions, Degree of Urbanisation, border regions, islands regions, coastal regions, mountain regions, Functional Urban Areas, and Local Administrative Units
  • Knowledge of GIS methodologies, tools, and technologies, such as ArcGIS, supported by formal training or certification
  • Knowledge and practical experience with GIS methodologies, tools, and platforms for spatial analysis and mapping
  • Knowledge of geospatial database management, such as Oracle
  • Knowledge of geospatial data management operations, including modelling, transformation, enrichment, quality assurance, dissemination, and visualisation
  • Knowledge of spatial analysis methodologies, including computational geometry, network analysis, geo-statistics, and remote sensing
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting, such as Python, for automated GIS workflows
  • Knowledge of cartographic design principles and web mapping technologies, such as ArcGIS Online
  • Knowledge of earth observation data operations, including Copernicus, Sentinel, and Landsat
  • Knowledge of metadata standards and cataloguing, such as INSPIRE metadata
  • Experience with tabular, raster, vector, time-series, environmental, economic, and demographic data
  • Ability to identify NUTS versions and levels
  • Experience developing workflows to calculate indicators at specific territorial levels
  • Experience aggregating indicators from grid level to polygon level
  • Mandatory ArcGIS Pro Technical Certification, Foundation level or equivalent
  • Ability to participate in multilingual meetings
  • Ability to work in a team and autonomously
