Job Description
Global Tax Manager coordinating tax compliance, statutory books, and audits for MariaDB, a database technology company. Managing advisors, filings, transfer pricing, and US GAAP reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
- Own coordination of MariaDB’s global tax compliance calendar
- Serve as primary internal contact for external tax advisors across all operating jurisdictions
- Manage corporate income tax, sales and use tax, VAT/GST, and other indirect tax filing deadlines
- Gather, review, and deliver supporting data and schedules to external preparers
- Challenge and resolve open tax compliance items
- Review draft returns and filings for reasonableness and consistency with the books
- Monitor registration, deregistration, and nexus questions as the business footprint changes
- Track tax payments, refunds, and notices
- Coordinate responses to tax authority inquiries with external advisors
- Maintain documentation and support files for audits and internal review
- Review statutory books for foreign subsidiaries, including month-end close activity and book-specific journal entries
- Review and support transfer pricing entries, intercompany charges, and true-up adjustments
- Reconcile and explain differences between statutory reporting and US GAAP
- Coordinate external statutory audits, including request lists, timelines, and supporting documentation
- Partner with accounting on intercompany balances, entity-level results, and consolidation inputs
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Active CPA required
- 5–8 years of total tax and accounting experience
- 3–4 years in public accounting tax practice; Big 4 preferred
- 2–4 years in industry
- Multi-entity, multinational exposure, including foreign subsidiaries and statutory versus US GAAP differences
- Experience coordinating VAT/GST, corporate income tax, and other filings across multiple jurisdictions
- Transfer pricing familiarity, including intercompany agreements, cost-plus and TNMM concepts, and TP adjustments through the books
- NetSuite experience required; NetSuite Multi-Book Accounting strongly preferred
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong working proficiency with AI tools such as Claude or Gemini, with demonstrated professional use
- Strong project management and deadline discipline
- Comfortable working with remote and international teams and advisors across time zones
- Clear written communication for translating technical tax and statutory issues to non-specialists
- Self-directed, with ability to work autonomously
