Job Description

Conducts audits of halal facilities and processes to ensure compliance with halal standards. Offers technical support and prepares detailed audit reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform audits of halal food / pharma / cosmetic facilities, supply chains, and related processes to ensure compliance with relevant halal and quality standards (e.g., OIC/SMIIC, GSO, SJPH, etc.)
  • Evaluate documentation, procedures, and practices to verify adherence to halal certification requirements
  • Assess the effectiveness of halal management systems (HMS) and identify areas for improvement
  • Prepare detailed audit reports, including non-conformities, observations, and recommendations for corrective actions
  • Communicate audit findings to clients and provide guidance on achieving and maintaining compliance
  • Offer technical support and advice to clients on implementing and improving halal systems
  • Verify that corrective actions have been implemented effectively to address non-conformities
  • Ensure that certified organizations maintain ongoing compliance with applicable standards
  • Participate in training and professional development to maintain auditing competence
  • Work closely with certification body teams, including other auditors, technical managers, and certification decision-makers
  • Support the development and improvement of audit protocols and certification processes
  • Travel to client sites, which may include domestic and international locations, to conduct on-site audits

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, Agriculture, or a related field
  • Additional certifications in halal auditing (e.g., lead auditor, FSSC 22000, or equivalent) are highly desirable
  • Prior experience as an halal and/or food quality auditor or in implementing halal and/or food safety management systems
  • In-depth understanding of halal, halal dietary laws, halal production requirements is a must
  • Knowledge of halal and food safety standards (e.g., GSO, OIC/SMIIC, ISO 22000, HACCP, BRC, FSSC 22000, etc.)
  • Familiarity with halal production processes, supply chain management, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in report writing and documentation
  • Ethical and impartial, with a commitment to maintaining the integrity of the certification process
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Frequent travel to client sites, including remote or rural locations
