Job Description

Online high school math teacher delivering personalized instruction for North Carolina Virtual Academy. Monitoring student progress, supporting families, and preparing learners for standardized tests.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specific course content in an online environment
  • Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
  • Personalize learning and differentiate instruction based on student mastery
  • Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
  • Maintain the grade book and uphold student academic integrity
  • Make student placement and promotion decisions and alert administrators to performance concerns
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
  • Establish positive rapport with families and communicate with students and parents/learning coaches
  • Support parents/learning coaches with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
  • Travel as required for professional development, student testing, and school functions

Requirements:

  • North Carolina High School Math Teaching Certification required
  • Must reside in North Carolina
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Ability to clear a required background check
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
  • Experience working with the proposed age group desired
  • Experience supporting adults and children with technology desired
  • Experience teaching online or in a brick-and-mortar environment desired
  • Experience with online learning platforms desired
  • Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data
  • Ability to use student data to drive instructional decisions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
