Job Description
Part-time online high school math teacher for Stride’s personalized virtual education program. Delivering live instruction, monitoring progress, and supporting students and families.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specific course content in an online environment
- Provide rich and engaging synchronous learning experiences
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
- Focus on students’ individual needs and maintain positive rapport
- Apply knowledge of the K12 curriculum, online school, and state and industry-specific learning standards
- Augment course content and develop instructional tools, strategies, and lessons aligned with the school’s pacing schedule
- Contact students regularly by email or phone
- Respond to student and associated school inquiries, usually within one business day
- Participate in academic-focused meetings with associated school administrators
- Attend scheduled virtual staff meetings
- Monitor and report student academic and pacing progress
- Generate formal reports and alert administrators to concerns about progress and attendance
- Organize orientation, training, social, and educational activities for students and families
- Create monthly newsletters or update the website as needed
- Lead student and parent orientations as needed
- Assess students according to policy
- Travel occasionally to school functions, such as state testing
Requirements:
- Appropriate state Department of Education High School (9-12) Math Teaching Certification required
- Bachelor’s degree
- One (1) year industry experience leading to certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Appropriate subject teaching certification
- Shared view of the virtual academy’s mission
- Strong content and subject-matter knowledge
- Ability to support and guide adults as well as students
- Excellent knowledge of motivational techniques
- Excellent organizational, problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
- Willingness and ability to obtain additional state licensing as required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Microsoft Office and web proficiency
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Ability to pass required background check
- Internet service with modem/router
- High-speed internet connection with at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speed
- Ability to work typically 20–25 hours per week, with fewer or additional hours as required
- Availability during daytime business hours (8am–5pm ET, Monday–Friday) as needed
