Job Description
Online middle school math teacher delivering personalized instruction for Texas Virtual Academy students. Monitoring progress, engaging families, and preparing learners for standardized tests.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specific course content in an online environment
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance
- Manage the learning process and focus on students’ individual needs
- Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
- Work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance learning toward established goals
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
- Personalize learning for all students
- Differentiate instruction based on student mastery level
- Augment course content using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools under principal and coach guidance
- Maintain the grade book and ensure student academic integrity
- Make student placement and promotion decisions
- Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
- Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
- Travel as required, averaging once per month or approximately 20% of the time, for professional development, student testing, and other school requirements
Requirements:
- Active Texas Middle School Mathematics Teaching Certification
- Residency in Texas
- Bachelor's degree
- Active state teaching license
- Ability to clear required background check
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
- Typically available during 9-5 or 8-4 school-defined hours
- Experience working with the proposed age group (desired)
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology (desired)
- Experience teaching in an online or brick-and-mortar environment (desired)
- Experience with online learning platforms (desired)
- Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data (desired)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint (desired)
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms (desired)
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum (desired)
