Job Description
Special education teacher delivering virtual instruction and managing IEPs for Oregon Connections Academy, a tuition-free K–12 online school. Supporting students with special needs from a home office.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specially designed virtual instruction to students with special needs
- Virtually manage instructional programs for a caseload of students requiring direct and/or indirect services
- Develop, write, implement, and monitor IEPs and 504 plans
- Monitor student progress, complete report cards, and conduct parent conferences
- Communicate with IEP team members, parents/learning coaches, related service providers, and school staff
- Provide direct student services through web-conferencing software as needed
- Schedule, organize, and conduct IEP-related meetings in a virtual environment
- Participate in the school’s Student Support Team
- Help teachers and learning coaches develop and implement program modifications and strategies
- Assist with IEP paperwork, documentation, and procedures
- Coordinate related service providers as mandated by IEPs
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date data in the Learning Management System and special education software
- Assist with state testing and coordinate IEP-required special adaptations
- Ensure the special education program operates successfully and complies with federal and state regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Degree in Special Education or a related education field
- Valid Oregon Special Education certificate
- Experience with IDEA policy and/or special education administration
- Strong technology skills, especially Microsoft Office products and Google Suite
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Highly organized and punctual
- Customer-centric mindset
- High degree of flexibility and agility
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Team-player track record
- Willingness to travel for marketing, state testing, and other school events, including occasional overnight travel
- Ability to effectively work remotely
- Ability to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication
