Job Description
Remote special education elementary teacher delivering IEP-based instruction for K12’s Texas Virtual Academy of Hallsville. Supporting student growth through virtual lessons, data analysis, accommodations, and parent collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance to special education students according to each student’s IEP
- Manage the learning process for special education students
- Maintain compliance documentation required for serving special education students
- Implement instructional strategies that stimulate learning and increase student engagement
- Create instructional resources for varying student needs
- Collaborate with parents and colleagues on course goals, curriculum, and materials
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities and professional development
- Host live synchronous sessions
- Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment
- Participate in data analysis meetings to monitor student growth
- Collect data and work samples supporting IEP goals
- Document parent contacts, general education teacher collaborations, and student interventions
- Modify K12 lessons and assessments according to IEP requirements
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and student success
- Collaborate on progress, semester, and grade reports
- Provide special education services and support teachers and parents with accommodations
- Communicate with parents and related service staff regarding appropriate therapies
- Travel within and between assigned geographic areas to support students, attend meetings, and participate in school activities, open houses, and orientations
Requirements:
- Special education AND Elementary School EC-6 Generalist certificate
- Bachelor’s Degree(s)
- Minimum six (6) months of student teaching experience
- Teaching Certificate(s)
- Transcripts
- Teachers with one or more years of teaching experience must provide past performance data
- Performance Evaluations
- Prior Year State Assessment Data
- Reference Letter(s)
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel at least once per month within and between assigned geographic areas
- Experience working with the proposed age group
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
- Ability to learn new technology tools quickly
- Ability to clear required background check(s)
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
- Strong preference for residents of Texas
