Job Description
Special education substitute teacher delivering virtual instruction for K12-powered Colorado schools. Supporting students, families, and learning coaches through personalized online education.
Responsibilities:
- Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students
- Personalize learning for all students
- Differentiate instruction based on student level of mastery
- Augment course content using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools under guidance from principal and coach
- Maintain the grade book and student academic integrity
- Make student placement and promotion decisions
- Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
- Prepare students for high stakes standardized tests
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
- Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
- Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
- Travel as required, on average once per month and/or up to 20% of the time, for professional development, student testing, and school requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Active state teaching license
- Colorado Substitute Teaching Certification Required
- Ability to clear required background check
- Colorado residents preferred
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and use it to drive instructional decisions
- Receptive to receiving coaching on a regular basis with administrators and teacher trainers
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
