Job Description

Special education substitute teacher delivering virtual instruction for K12-powered Colorado schools. Supporting students, families, and learning coaches through personalized online education.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students
  • Personalize learning for all students
  • Differentiate instruction based on student level of mastery
  • Augment course content using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools under guidance from principal and coach
  • Maintain the grade book and student academic integrity
  • Make student placement and promotion decisions
  • Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
  • Prepare students for high stakes standardized tests
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
  • Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
  • Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
  • Travel as required, on average once per month and/or up to 20% of the time, for professional development, student testing, and school requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Colorado Substitute Teaching Certification Required
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Colorado residents preferred
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and use it to drive instructional decisions
  • Receptive to receiving coaching on a regular basis with administrators and teacher trainers
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
