Job Description

Housing Inspector conducting military housing QA/QC inspections for Bureau Veritas, a global testing, inspection, and certification company. Documenting property conditions, hazards, and compliance across U.S. client sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform QA/QC inspections of electrical, mechanical, fire and life safety, and/or structural building systems
  • Conduct on-site inspections of building systems, structural integrity, and safety compliance
  • Conduct military housing inspections using established protocols and guidelines
  • Verify homes on military bases comply with safety regulations and report hazards
  • Collect live property-condition data using tablets and web-based programs
  • Capture photographic documentation of housing units and identified issues
  • Review construction plans, specifications, and maintenance records for compliance
  • Identify deficiencies, hazards, and non-conformance issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Inspect mechanical equipment across single-family, multifamily, townhouse, row house, apartment, and barracks properties
  • Conduct interviews with on-site representatives and knowledgeable individuals
  • Prepare detailed reports with findings, photographs, and supporting documentation
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and standards including ASTM, NFPA, NEC, ICC, and ASME
  • Communicate results and compliance issues to property owners, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and inspectors to maintain consistency and quality control
  • Maintain project communication with senior management and report deployment issues
  • Provide timely customer service and proactive solutions
  • Follow company policies, SOPs, work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards
  • Travel frequently to client and project sites across the U.S.; onsite visits may last up to three continuous weeks
  • Work overtime when authorized

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required; some college preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience
  • Valid driver's license required with no significant motor vehicle report (MVR) points/violations
  • InterNACHI certification required for Military Inspectors; must pass the Interim Certification within the first week of employment and obtain the Full Certified Property Inspector designation within 12 months
  • Complete 90 hours of CEUs in the first 12 months for Military Inspectors
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret extensive instructions and handle abstract and concrete variables
  • Computer proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheet, and project management software
  • Time management, active listening, critical thinking, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safely
  • Must have a cell phone and supply your own internet service
  • Must meet the physical demands of the job, including walking, standing, climbing, crawling, lifting up to 40 pounds, and operating a motor vehicle
  • Mechanical Inspectors: welding/pressure vessel inspection knowledge preferred; NDT knowledge or certification is a plus
  • FLS Inspectors: in-depth knowledge of fire codes, standards, and regulations; proficiency with inspection software and reporting tools; bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Safety Management, or related field preferred
