Job Description
Lead electrical engineering for Blattner, a nationwide renewable-energy construction provider, across utility-scale gas power projects. Oversee designs, interconnections, procurement, construction support, and technical development.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the electrical engineering execution of utility-scale gas power generation projects from estimating through construction support and project closeout
- Develop preliminary electrical designs for proposals, incorporating power quality, system reliability, constructability, cost efficiency, and Blattner best practices
- Lead Basis of Design (BOD) development, electrical engineering reviews, RFIs, and technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle
- Review electrical one-line diagrams, protection and control schemes, grounding systems, cable routing, equipment layouts, substation designs, and third-party engineering packages
- Coordinate electrical engineering activities with Project Engineering, Estimating, Integrated Supply Chain, Construction, Owners, utilities, and Engineers of Record
- Support electrical equipment selection, procurement, vendor evaluations, and technical submittal reviews
- Lead constructability reviews, value engineering initiatives, and technical risk assessments
- Mentor and develop Engineer I, Engineer II, Senior Engineers, and CAD Designers
- Drive electrical engineering standards, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Serve as the technical electrical engineering resource for complex design challenges throughout project execution
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited college
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within one year of hire
- Seven or more years of progressive electrical engineering experience supporting utility-scale power generation, industrial, EPC, utility, or heavy infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating complex electrical engineering projects
- Experience supporting gas turbine facilities, reciprocating engine generation plants, simple-cycle and combined-cycle power plants, substations, switchyards, transmission infrastructure, or balance of plant electrical systems
- Strong knowledge of medium- and high-voltage power systems, utility interconnections, protection and control systems, grounding, power quality, and electrical equipment design
- Experience collaborating with Owners, Engineers of Record, utilities, EPC partners, and construction teams throughout the engineering lifecycle
- Proven ability to lead electrical engineering teams while mentoring and developing technical talent
- Ability to drive engineering innovation, establish electrical design standards, and continuously improve engineering quality
