Job Description
Electrical Engineering Manager leading engineering and optimization for Onward Energy’s U.S. wind, solar, and natural gas power facilities. Overseeing teams, projects, compliance, budgets, and root cause analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of technical Generation Engineering electrical experts
- Provide leadership and management of direct reports and establish goals related to safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance
- Provide technical guidance and oversight for engineering issues involving maintenance and optimization of generation facilities
- Lead engineering, procurement, and construction activities on power plant improvement projects
- Lead technical analyses and evaluate emergent technology supporting technical, operational, and financial objectives
- Devise and implement group improvement projects to increase efficiency and quality of work products
- Lead engineering analyses and provide recommendations, standards, and guidelines for power plant operation, maintenance, safety, reliability, procurement, construction, and testing
- Develop and oversee project designs, specifications, and engineered solutions for power plant equipment and systems
- Provide input for annual maintenance, safety, and efficiency improvement budgets
- Provide operating and maintenance standards to improve generating-facility reliability and efficiency
- Coordinate project designs with plant representatives, contractors, and equipment suppliers
- Inspect and evaluate generating equipment and process conditions; project operating and maintenance requirements
- Oversee generation projects to ensure design criteria, schedule, and budget requirements are met
- Support outages and routine maintenance, including planning, budgets, business cases, parts/service, and procurement recommendations
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional organizations on corporate initiatives
- Lead root cause analyses for incidents at generation facilities
- Gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations supporting electrical planning and technical, operational, and financial objectives
- Develop presentations for senior management and recommend and implement best practices
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies, codes, and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Must hold a PE license; in lieu of a PE license, minimum of twelve (12) applicable years of experience as a practicing engineer
- Ten (10) years of related experience in power generation, transmission and/or distribution
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred
- Ability to lead, coach, and guide employees
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capability
- Exceptional verbal/written communication and presentation skills
- Self-starter with ability to make decisions and take necessary actions without specific direction
- Effective time management and organizational skills; multitasking capabilities and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Extensive knowledge of major power plant components, controls, protection systems, root cause analysis, and risk analysis
- Leadership experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of technical issues
- Valid U.S. driver's license with acceptable MVR history
- Ability to meet physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to travel up to 25%
