Job Description
Platform Engineering Manager owning LegitScript’s auditable AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes deployment platform. Leading automation, CI/CD, reliability, compliance, and developer self-service.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the platform engineering team, owning delivery, reliability commitments, team health, and engineer development
- Remain hands-on by writing infrastructure code and debugging deployments
- Own environment separation, change control, access management, and audit logging
- Ensure production changes are traceable, defensible, and capable of meeting Secure SDLC, Change Management Policy, and SOC 2 evidence requirements
- Drive an incremental migration to a standardized Kubernetes deployment path
- Build and own developer tooling, paved roads, golden paths, and self-service deployment guardrails
- Own and improve CI/CD pipelines, including branch protection, peer review, automated security and quality testing, and gated deployment
- Establish Terraform infrastructure-as-code standards and bring unmanaged production changes under version control
- Reduce operational toil through automation and replatforming
- Own infrastructure reliability, monitoring, alerting, and incident response
- Serve as an escalation point and coordinate infrastructure incident response
- Provide the infrastructure substrate and tooling consumed by application-platform and domain teams
- Partner with the Staff Engineer responsible for the application platform
- Set standards for infrastructure code quality, testing, documentation, and review
- Manage cloud cost and capacity while balancing performance and reliability
- Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Requirements:
- Deep, hands-on platform and infrastructure engineering experience across AWS, Linux, and container-first workflows
- Production Kubernetes experience, including providing standardized deployment paths for engineering teams
- Strong infrastructure-as-code practice with Terraform
- CI/CD pipeline design and ownership, including security, quality, and approval gates
- Experience building internal developer tooling and self-service deployment
- Experience designing infrastructure and change processes for auditability and compliance, including environment separation, access control, audit logging, and SOC 2 evidence
- Strong command of observability, monitoring, alerting, and infrastructure incident response
- Experience with authentication and authorization platforms such as Okta or Auth0
- Demonstrated ability to improve unfamiliar, legacy, or poorly maintained infrastructure
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- People leadership, mentoring, and growing engineers while remaining technically hands-on
- Ability to influence without direct authority and establish standards adopted by engineering teams
- Comfort leading incremental migrations and establishing durable engineering practices
- Ability to communicate technical concepts and tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including leadership
- Well-developed ability to speak, read, comprehend, and write English
