Job Description

Nuclear safety specialist performing MCNP and SCALE analyses for reactor operations. Supporting BGS engineering and national-security clients with DOE-compliant safety documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and/or review MCNP and SCALE analyses for criticality safety, radiation protection and shielding, and isotopic inventories resulting from depletion/transmutation analyses associated with reactor operations
  • Develop and/or review nuclear safety documentation consistent with criteria, requirements, and standards for DOE and commercial applications
  • Perform work consistent with quality assurance procedures and processes for designated tasks
  • Conduct required verification and validation of applied software
  • Support clients in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and remote locations
  • Work Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week

Requirements:

  • B.S. in nuclear engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Successful drug screening
  • Experience with MCNP and SCALE analyses
  • Ability to perform work consistent with quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Ability to perform required verification and validation of applied software
