Job Description
Platform Engineer building and operating AWS infrastructure for inKind’s restaurant rewards platform. Improving reliability, security, observability, deployments, and cloud scalability.
Responsibilities:
- Build, operate, and evolve AWS infrastructure across compute, networking, storage, and managed services
- Design and maintain infrastructure supporting high availability, predictable performance, and financial correctness
- Contribute to platform architectural decisions, including service migrations and runtime changes such as Redis to Valkey and EKS to ECS/Fargate
- Build and maintain safe, repeatable, and observable deployment pipelines
- Contribute to capacity planning, failure modeling, controlled change management, incident response, and root-cause analysis
- Participate in on-call rotations and improve operational ergonomics
- Build and maintain observability across infrastructure and services, including metrics, logs, tracing, and alerting
- Help secure AWS resources, IAM policies, secrets management, and network boundaries
- Identify and address infrastructure risks related to scale, cost, and security
- Partner with application engineers on platform constraints and capabilities
- Implement infrastructure changes independently and collaboratively
- Contribute to infrastructure, deployment, and operations standards and best practices
- Share knowledge and improve organizational operational maturity
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience building and operating production infrastructure in cloud environments
- Hands-on experience with AWS core services, including EC2, ECS/EKS, VPC, IAM, RDS, ElastiCache, ALB/NLB, and CloudWatch
- Understanding of containerized workloads and orchestration concepts
- Experience supporting systems designed for high availability, fault tolerance, and controlled failure
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Experience contributing to infrastructure migrations and production changes
- Experience debugging production incidents involving networking, scaling, or service degradation
- Experience operating infrastructure for financial systems or other high-reliability domains preferred
- Experience working with infrastructure through periods of growth or increasing complexity preferred
- Familiarity with observability and strong operational practices preferred
- Experience simplifying, retiring, or rearchitecting existing infrastructure preferred
- Comfort working closely with a Rails-based application stack while remaining tool-agnostic preferred
