Job Description
Policy Analyst supporting Canada’s immigration consulting regulator through research, regulatory analysis, and policy development. Advising leaders and coordinating stakeholders on legislation, standards, and government relations.
Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze complex organizational, regulatory, and legal/policy issues related to regulated professions and legislative trends
- Prepare publications, reports, and recommendations for senior decision makers
- Interpret environmental trends, stakeholder feedback, and regulatory obligations to revise and develop policies
- Provide strategic policy support, critical analysis, coordination, and expert advice
- Identify potential regulatory issues and participate in federal/College meetings, committees, working groups, and task forces
- Coordinate individuals and departments to write policies and resolve policy and regulatory issues with multiple stakeholders
- Collaborate with and consult internal and external stakeholders, including department leads, committees, the Board of Directors, and the federal government
- Write background papers supporting policy and regulation changes
- Develop and review policies, frameworks, standards, directives, and guidelines
- Ensure adherence to College standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Support government relations activities
- Perform, write, and present environmental scans
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships and manage consultations
- Consult internal stakeholders regarding risks, issues, regulatory changes, operational processes, policies, and guidelines
Requirements:
- Bilingual language requirement, non-imperative
- University degree (Master’s) in public policy, public administration, or another related field
- 5 to 7 years of research/analysis experience
- Experience reading and understanding legislation, regulations, and case law
- Experience planning, leading, coordinating, and/or facilitating multi-staged projects
- Experience providing policy advice and recommendations on complex subjects and issues in a regulatory context
- Experience developing policies, professional standards, directives, and/or guidelines
- Experience understanding and supporting government relations activities
- Knowledge of research methodology and software tools for qualitative and quantitative research analysis
- Knowledge of the immigration sector, legislation, regulatory processes, and current policies in professional regulation
- Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Time management, organizational, decision-making, and prioritization skills
- Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced, changing environment and demonstrate initiative
- Interpersonal and stakeholder relationship management skills
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Successful candidate must undergo a criminal background check
