Job Description

Premium Audit Specialist auditing Pennsylvania workers’ compensation premiums for Summit. Reviewing financial records, resolving discrepancies, and supporting accurate policyholder billing.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough audits of insureds’ financial records to verify reported premiums
  • Review and analyze complex financial statements, payroll records, and other relevant documents
  • Identify trends and anomalies that may impact premium accuracy
  • Resolve complex discrepancies in policyholder records by coordinating with producers, underwriters, insureds, leadership, and internal departments
  • Evaluate the applicability of insurance certificates and class codes to specific exposures
  • Analyze claim activity to ensure employee coding is consistent and accurate
  • Prepare and present detailed audit reports to management
  • Collaborate with underwriters and internal departments to ensure accurate premium calculations
  • Address complex audit-related inquiries from policyholders and provide customer service
  • Monitor and evaluate premium audit practices and assist with strategic improvements
  • Potentially oversee performance and coach staff, including participation in talent selection, development, and performance management
  • Provide technical advice and support to lower-level positions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Generally, a minimum of 10 years of experience in Premium Audit, Underwriting, Accounting, or Finance
  • Insurance accounting experience preferred
  • Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred, such as Associates in Premium Audit Program (APA), Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), or Associate of Risk Management (ARM)
  • Advanced technical knowledge across various accounting principles and practices
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and across departments
