Job Description
Principal Platform Engineer building foundational infrastructure for Juniper Square’s private-markets software platform. Leading architecture, developer experience, distributed systems, and AI tooling initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Own high-impact initiatives as the Directly Responsible Individual, including project health, system design, and end-to-end delivery
- Partner with Product Management and cross-functional teams to clarify requirements, map business goals to technical scope, and manage dependencies
- Lead architectural design, task breakdown, and execution planning for incremental deliverables
- Establish reusable patterns, technical standards, and platform primitives
- Improve engineering efficiency through tooling, automation, documentation, observability, and developer workflows
- Mentor engineers and improve technical decision-making and execution quality
- Drive adoption of AI tooling across the software development lifecycle while ensuring security, compliance, and best-practice alignment
Requirements:
- 12+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed production systems
- Strong backend engineering experience with Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, Pyramid, or Django
- Experience leading technical design for complex systems and guiding implementation across multiple engineers or teams
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, performance tuning, query optimization, and data modeling
- Experience building and operating cloud-native systems using AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, observability, reliability, and operational excellence in production environments
- Ability to work through ambiguity, break down complex technical problems, and drive alignment across engineering, product, and design
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to independently drive high-impact initiatives
- Ability to raise engineering quality through technical standards, design reviews, mentoring, and reusable platform patterns
- Passion for improving developer experience through platforms, tooling, automation, documentation, and engineering workflows
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced startup environment
- Comfortable driving technical vision while shipping value incrementally
- Platform team experience building tools and services consumed by other developers is nice to have
- Experience with AI/LLM-powered production systems is nice to have
- CIAM/identity systems experience is nice to have
- Security-aware design experience is nice to have
