Job Description
Founding Product and Platform Engineer building customer-facing products and cloud platforms for SGS, a global testing, inspection, and certification company. Defining architecture, reusable services, and engineering standards.
Responsibilities:
- Lead architecture and delivery of ambitious customer-facing digital solutions
- Design and develop frontend experiences, backend services, cloud infrastructure, and deployment pipelines
- Create tooling, deployment pathways, and reusable platform building blocks
- Shape CI/CD, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and observability capabilities
- Convert successful patterns into shared services, frameworks, libraries, and architectural standards
- Remove friction from the development lifecycle through automation and standardization
- Act as technical lead on important initiatives and architect through code
- Partner with engineers, product leads, and designers to raise technical standards
- Mentor and influence engineers while fostering pragmatic, high-quality delivery
- Establish engineering architecture, tooling, culture, and development practices for SGS digital products
Requirements:
- Expert-level React/TypeScript on the frontend
- Deep experience building distributed backends in Go, Python, or TypeScript
- Hands-on, architectural-level experience with GCP or AWS
- Experience with Terraform
- Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience building modern CI/CD pipelines from scratch, including GitHub Actions or GitLab CI
- Ability to design scalable, resilient, and observable systems
- Experience working closely with Product and Design teams
- Practical understanding of monitoring, tracing, testing, and operational excellence
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and Jaeger
- 10+ years of experience with strong backgrounds in product engineering and platform/SRE work
- Builder-first mindset and ability to make key technical decisions through hands-on delivery
