Job Description
Shopify QA Specialist testing themes, storefronts, checkout, and apps for Bolder Apps' digital product clients. Catching launch risks and documenting actionable bugs across multi-client engagements.
Responsibilities:
- Own QA for Shopify theme and storefront work from staging through launch across multiple engagements
- Design and run test passes for Liquid themes, sections, carts, checkout, discounts, and merchant-content edge cases
- Test Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Functions, and custom app flows
- Write clear bug reports including reproduction steps, expected versus actual behavior, browser/device, and severity
- Partner with PMs and developers on launch checklists, regression scope, and go/no-go decisions
- Use AI tools to draft test cases and bug notes, then verify the output
- Flag risks involving unstable theme forks, unsafe checkout changes, or UAT content that could break production
- Maintain QA notes and known-issue lists for smooth handoffs
Requirements:
- 3+ years testing production Shopify themes and/or apps that went live for real merchants
- Agency or multi-client experience preferred
- Experience testing Online Store 2.0 themes, carts, checkout, discounts, metafields, and common app installs
- Checkout Extensibility and/or Shopify Functions experience is a plus
- Clear reproduction steps, severity judgment, regression discipline, and calm communication
- Comfortable with browsers, mobile devices, staging stores, and ticket tools such as Jira or Linear
- Automation experience with Playwright, Cypress, or similar is a plus, not a hard gate
- Experience using ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or similar for test design and bug writing, with ability to verify output
- English at C1 or above
- Availability through roughly 5 PM EST for live launch coordination when needed
- Ability to make honest severity calls, flag blockers early, and complete launch passes
