Job Description

Building inspector auditing construction products for ICC NTA, a building-safety testing and certification company. Conducting site audits, product sampling, and quality-system reviews across the Pennsylvania inspection region.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform regularly scheduled in-plant audits as requested by the Regional Inspection Manager
  • Perform scheduled on-site audits
  • Perform product sampling
  • Monitor clients’ implementation of approved quality systems
  • Evaluate and communicate each client’s quality-system status to the Regional Inspection Manager
  • Submit inspection reports to the Regional Inspection Manager for review by the end of each month
  • Establish relationships with states and HUD
  • Follow all applicable ICC NTA procedures when executing inspection jobs
  • Identify, recommend, and pursue process improvements within the department and ICC NTA
  • Promote effective communication throughout the organization
  • Recommend actions to improve communication among employees
  • Provide insights and ideas for resolving repetitive field issues
  • Maintain consistent communication with Inspection Managers
  • Perform other duties and special assignments as directed by the Regional Inspection Manager

Requirements:

  • Entry-level ICC Building Inspector role in the Pennsylvania region
  • Must pass ICC Residential examinations in Building, Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing within 12 months of employment
  • Must complete CEU training as required to maintain licenses and certifications
  • Ability to travel to client facilities or worksites by airplane or automobile
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience in building construction, building code enforcement, or quality assurance audits
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Willingness to take necessary code exams and develop into a seasoned ICC Building Inspector
  • Willingness to undertake some overnight travel
  • Ability to drive for extended periods through multiple states
  • Occasional standing, walking, and reaching
  • Manual dexterity for typing, filing, and handling office equipment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Visual acuity to read printed and digital materials
  • Auditory ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone
  • May need to climb stairs in a multi-level office building
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments and standard or atypical office environments
