Job Description
Analytics Engineering Manager leading dbt, SQL, Airflow, and Snowflake data pipelines. Supporting Inroads’ government healthcare.gov outreach and analytics programs.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and develop a small Analytics Engineering team partnering with Analysts and Data Engineers
- Define data modeling standards and dbt best practices across the healthcare.gov outreach team
- Oversee migration, refactoring, and optimization of complex SQL logic into scalable dbt pipelines
- Build dimensional models and semantic layers to answer business questions and track KPIs
- Develop and manage complex Airflow DAGs to orchestrate data movement
- Implement data quality checks and monitor data reliability
- Maintain documentation for datasets, lineage, and transformation logic
- Drive query performance and data model efficiency; optimize Snowflake usage
- Develop understanding of federal healthcare programs, ACA policy mandates, and regulatory frameworks
- Resolve challenges independently and deliver accurate products on short deadlines
- Complete other reasonable tasks assigned by management
Requirements:
- 5+ years of applied experience working in data analytics/infrastructure, analytics engineering with 1+ years leading, managing, or mentoring technical team members
- Proven track record working with dbt and developing downstream data models (Kimball/Vault) in cloud environments like Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks along with pipeline management in Airflow or similar tools
- Experience optimizing data models for query efficiency
- Strong desire or experience mentoring junior Analytics Engineering staff and developing best practices within a team
- Ability to understand business logic of ingested data and translate it into derivative data products
- Comfort working independently to drive portions of larger projects
- Experience providing detailed review of others’ work and a strong grasp of version control (i.e., Git)
- Ability to successfully attain and maintain a Federal Public Trust security clearance
- U.S. Citizenship, or U.S. residency for three of the past five years (36 of the past 60 months)
- An undergraduate degree or higher
