Job Description
Senior AWS DevOps Consultant modernizing lottery systems for DVT, a South African software consultancy. Building Salesforce integrations, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud observability.
Responsibilities:
- Support the client's CRM and data teams with cloud work for the Fast Track to the Future programme
- Design and build integrations between Salesforce and AWS-hosted systems using synchronous APIs, Amazon EventBridge and Amazon S3 batch flows
- Use AWS services to build features not currently offered by Salesforce
- Make integrations secure, reliable and supportable, including error handling, retries and replay
- Improve GitLab CI/CD by moving from GitFlow to trunk-based deployment and propagation
- Improve repository security scanning with Snyk
- Set up and improve observability across AWS and Salesforce, including tracing, dashboards and alerting
- Build observability mainly with Amazon CloudWatch and assess external tooling
- Set up GCP accounts, permissions and basic infrastructure for Google Analytics and BigQuery
- Propose solution architecture, then build, test and implement solutions
- Explain and justify designs to cloud engineers, CRM stakeholders and business stakeholders
- Work with the client's existing cloud and CRM organisations
- Perform client-facing consulting
Requirements:
- 5+ years' hands-on AWS cloud / DevOps engineering experience at a senior level
- Proven experience building AWS integrations with APIs, Amazon EventBridge and file-based batch flows on Amazon S3
- Strong GitLab CI/CD experience, including trunk-based development and deployment / promotion patterns
- Hands-on observability experience with tracing, dashboards and alerting using Amazon CloudWatch
- Ability to propose solution architecture and explain and justify it to engineers and business stakeholders
- Motivated and self-driven, with strong communication skills
- Google Cloud experience, including projects, IAM, basic infrastructure and BigQuery (advantageous)
- Salesforce integration experience (advantageous)
- Snyk or similar SCA / SAST tooling in CI/CD pipelines (advantageous)
- AWS X-Ray, OpenTelemetry or external observability tools such as Datadog or Grafana (advantageous)
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform, AWS CDK or CloudFormation (advantageous)
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer (advantageous)
- Experience on large multi-country or multi-brand platform consolidation programmes (advantageous)
- Matric or equivalent
- Legal right to work in South Africa without employer sponsorship
